Man charged over Dublin sword attack
A man has appeared in court charged in connection with an attack in which a man had his hand cut off by a sword.33-year-old Anthony Dowling of 44 Fortlawn Drive, Blanchardstown was charged with assault causing harm and possession of an offensive weapon.
He has been remanded in custody for one week with consent to bail on his own bond of €1,000 and an independent surety of €8,000 or €5,000 in cash in lieu.
The judge at Dublin District Court imposed a number of conditions including that the accused has no contact with the injured party, and that he sign on once a week at Finglas Garda Station.
Gardaí are actively looking for a second man in connection with the incident.
The 27-year-old man who was the victim of the attack is in a stable condition in hospital following several hours of surgery after his hand was severed.
The incident happened at the Deputy Mayor Pub in Meakestown.
