Details for this are still really fuzzy, so we're looking for additional coverage.

A US man has been detained after a shooting in the car park of the New Life Church, Colorado Springs, in which at least four people were shot.

In an earlier incident, also in Colorado, two people were killed and two injured by a gunman in a Denver missionary training centre.

The condition of the victims in the church shooting is not yet known.

Police have not yet determined whether the incidents - which happened some 70 miles (110km) apart - were linked.

The first shooting happened just after midnight, local time, at a dormitory in the Youth With a Mission centre, in the Denver suburb of Arvada.

Tiffany Johnson, 26, and Philip Crouse, 23, were killed and two men aged 22 and 23 were wounded, police said in a statement.

Police are declining to say if the suspect was shot, and the conditions of the wounded churchgoers are still unclear.

Colorado Springs Police Lt. Fletcher Howard told CNN police had a suspect in custody, but that the motive for the shooting was not yet known. He said he could not confirm any fatalities from the shootings.

In Arvada, two youth missionary staff members were shot and killed by a young man who came to the door of the Youth With a Mission dormitory asking for a place to stay, the group said in a statement.

When he was told he could not be accommodated there, he pulled out a handgun and opened fire. Two other staffers, who were cleaning up after a Christmas party, were wounded before the gunman ran away.
