The trial of the Metropolitan Police over the fatal shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes is due to begin.

Mr Menezes, a Brazilian electrician, was killed by officers who mistook him for a suicide bomber at Stockwell Tube station in London in July 2005.

It is alleged by the prosecution that the force breached health and safety laws during the operation.

The Metropolitan Police denies the charge and it is estimated the trial at the Old Bailey will last six weeks.
