Mily commander apologizes for attack on police HQ

"I apologize to the people of Masohi for the attack by certain military individuals," the military commander said by phone when confirmed here on Saturday.
He was contacted after holding a meeting with Maluku Police Chief Brig. Gen. Muhammad Guntur Ariyadi and the Maluku Governor.
Two policemen were was killed and three others were injured in an attack by a group of soldiers of the Masohi Infantry Battalion 731, in Central Maluku District, on Saturday at around 3 am local time.
Rasyid said that the incident had created an uncomfortable and tense situation among the local people so that they could carry out their routine activities.
"The incident disturbed the activities of residents and created uncomfortable situation. Therefore, I apologize for it. This is a worrying incident, particularly for the military," the Pattimura Military commander said.
The two policemen killed in the incident were Chief Brigadier Michael Wattimena (36) and Second Bridgadier Musri Siomlibona.
It was reported five policemen were still held hostage at the headquarters of the Infantry Battalion 731.
