Balikpapapn (ANTARA News) - A Myanmarese national identified as ATT was captured by the East Kalimantan water and air police (Polairud) for their involvement in an illegal diesel oil case.
"That foreigner is among the five suspects arrested during a routine patrol in the Meriam River, Anggana subdistrict, Kutai Kartanegara district, in December 2007 at 02:30 local time," East Kalimantan Water and Air Police Chief Senior Commissioner Haris Fadillah said here on Tuesday.
In addition to ATT, four other suspects detained at the province`s water and air police headquarters were identified with their initials as NW, GL, JF and AE.
ATT was skipper of MV Benco dredger with Tupolov flag, one of the states in Fiji islands, Haris said, adding that ATT smuggled diesel oil of the company to Muara Mas Jaya landing craft tank (LCT).
"When Water and Air Police team was on patrol by boat, we found evidence like 14 tons of illegal diesel oil on board of the LCT vessel. When checked, those on board the LCT vessel could not show the necessary papers for the shipment of the diesel oil," Haris said.
After being interrogated, it appeared that Muara Mas Jaya LCT vessel obtained the diesel oil from MV Benco 8 dredger.
"The two vessels have been towed to the water and air police headquarters in Balikpapan," he stressed.
It was reported that a policeman identified with his initial R of the Mulawarman police post in Samarinda was allegedly involved as an intermediary.
"The policeman was questioned to get more information from him by Profession and Security Unit Chief," Harris said.
It was also reported that the dossiers of the illegal diesel oil case had been sent to the province`s prosecution office.(*) END
