Update: Detectives in Miami are wondering if Sean"s killers knew him or knew he lived in that house.  The break in of a week ago was strange since nothing was taken and a knife left on a bed. Was it some warning? If I'm a high profile NFL player and someone breaks into my house and leaves a knife on my bed, I'm sorry if they did'nt steal anything I would be on lockdown. So there are major questions that must be answered. mpress....

With great sadness we in South Florida mourn the death of Sean Taylor, R.I.P. Sean had reported a break in to his house a week before. This last year has been a tragic one for U of M Alumni. Just months ago  miami mourned the killing of University of Miami lineman Bryan Pata, the shooting marking the team's fourth death in the last decade.

Washington Redskins defensive back Sean Taylor died Tuesday morning, a day after he was shot by an intruder at his home in Palmetto Bay.

He was 24.

The onetime standout with the Miami Hurricanes died at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, where he was airlifted after the shooting Monday morning.

Shot in the groin, he suffered massive blood loss from a severed femoral artery. Surgery conducted later in the afternoon could not save him, although he was able to squeeze a doctor's hand, giving his family reason for hope.

That hope was crushed before dawn Tuesday.

Family and other loved ones, who maintained a vigil overnight, were seen leaving the hospital in tears.

The gunman remained on the loose.

Thanks for getting this out so quickly mpress, apparently he reported another break-in 8 days prior, so maybe the two are related.
