Many people around the world already know about the brutal assassination of Meredith Kersher, a young UK female student that was in Italy for the Erasmus program.
Meredith has been found on friday 2nd november semi-naked with her throat cut in the historic Italian town of Perugia, about 150 miles north of Rome.
Many newspapers and website already covered the cloudy details about this tragic event, however I think it's important to focus also on how the city of Perugia reacted.
Students and citizen are very frightened, and yesterday night a group of residents joined in the city center, Corso Garibaldi, to manifest against violence and lack of security in the lovely hill city of Perugia.

The mayor of Perugia, Renato Locchi, didn't take any initiative so far.

We hope that this atmosphere of fear will soon be replaced by a new sense of security.

simone.brunozzi, thanks very much for this. Do you have any photos of the demonstration or of Meredith Kersher?

Sorry, no pics. It was a small and not publicized manifestation, and no newspaper reported about it.

Seemed like it was something spontaneous and not "prepared".
