newcorrespondent, a terrible sign of the times for the freepress and general society in Mexico. Has the government released any statements about the situation?

Will the Mexican government do anything about this? If going by their track record, one will have a better chance at winning "El Gordo" before anyone is brought to Justice, let alone any further word on the story is published  by Mexican bureaucrats.
