Two teens, with nooses tied to the back of their red pickup truck, were stopped by police in Alexandria, Louisiana yesterday evening, after riding up and down the road past marchers heading home after attending the march and rally of support for the
Jena 6. The occupants said they wanted to provoke a response to their actions.
The mayor of Alexandria, Louisiana, Jacques Roy, who spoke to
CNN, said he went to the scene of the stop, in his pajamas, to survey the scene. The occupants of the truck, one minor and one adult, were arrested. The adult is charged with DUI, inciting to riot and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The mayor said, of the rally for the
Jena 6, that it was,
"peaceful and moving" . He wanted to assure the marchers, heading home to Nashville, Tennessee, who were along the side of the road, waiting to board buses, that the actions of the individuals in the truck did not represent his city. He said the occupants of the car were from north of Alexandria.
Alexandria, Louisiana is approximately a 45 minute ride from Jena, Louisiana and served as a staging area for the rally.
A quote from the article states:
The passenger told police he and his family are in the Ku Klux Klan and that he had KKK tattooed on his chest, the police report said. He also said that he tied the nooses and that the brass knuckles belonged to him, the report said.

I see the young fellow in the image is smirking. I doubt that his grin will last much longer in a correction system that is overwhelmingly populated by non-Europeans. Good work.
