CBC have announce an Update on the Student Hostage Crisis. Militants have released all Hostages (Unhurt), no word on the Militants demands if any had been met.

It has been reported that one gunman has been killed in what looks like a long standoff between government forces and militants.  More news will be forthcoming as developments come in.

Gunmen hold students hostage in Pakistan

CBC News

Police surrounded a high school in northwestern Pakistan Monday where gunmen are reportedly holding students and teachers hostage.

Pakistan's interior minister said up to 250 students are being held, while earlier reports said the standoff involved 30 students and teachers. Reports suggest five or six gunmen may be involved.

The school is in the town of Bannu.

Police say the standoff began after the gunmen abducted a health official in a neighbouring district and were chased down by police.

The gunmen eventually freed the official but took refuge inside the school. They are demanding safe passage in return for freeing the students and teachers.

who took up to 250 Pakistani school children hostage in a northwestern
town on Monday freed them all and surrendered to tribal elders, a
government spokesman said.

The criminals have surrendered to the jirga along with their weapons.
No children have been hurt and all have been released," interior
ministry spokesman Javel Iqbal Cheema told Geo Television. A jirga is a

Thanks for that report ROb, though it has been confirmed that only 23 - 25 students were held and perhaps up to 17 Teachers and Admin Staff.
