Makassar (ANTARA News) - Wanted Makassar bomber Wirahadi alias Hadi
(25), who escaped from Gunung Sari correctional institution here
several days ago, was captured in Manuju village, Gowa district, South
Sulawesi, on Tuesday afternoon.

Contacted from here for a confirmation, Gowa district police chief
Adjunct Senior Commissioner Raden Purwadi said Wirahadi was arrested in
a rice field at 4.15 on Thursday afternoon.

"We tracked him down a day earlier after we obtained information on his
whereabouts, but he fled after realizing that the police were after
him," Purwadi said.

He added that the police obtained the information on Wirahadi`s
whereabouts from a resident who got suspicious about the fugitive`s
identity when he asked for a job.

According to Purwadi, the fugitive had worked in a local rice field for seven days before he was caught on Tuesday.

Purwadi said Wirahadi`s arrest ran smoothly because he did not try to get away.

Police are still interrogating the fugitive before returning him to the Gunung Sari correctional institution in Makassar.(*) END
