CSS drop caps

A fairly typical example of the sorts of drop caps you are likely to see on tutorials about creating CSS drop caps. To me this looks pretty icky. The capital "T" has way too much space around it, both vertically and horizontally. I also think that drop caps look better when created with a different font than the one being used for the main body text. Are we agreed? Shall we see if we can improve on this? Okay, intrepid cappers, here we go:
