box of 12 chocolates for $22 (^O^);;; i wanted to eat chocolates for the new Johnny Depp film "Charlie & Chocolate Factory"~~~ (^O^);;; was actually supposed to go buy this Friday so then we could watch the movie that night while enjoying this. i was in the building, but by the time i remembered to go down to the shop it was too late and it had closed already at 6pm... (so instead at that moment i decided to climb out the window to take shots of The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver ^O^;;; i have weird logic and thinking pattern *nod*)
anywayz, i'd never actually had chocolates from SEN5ES before cuz i'm not big on choco. i hardly ever looked at the choco section when i go in to buy cakes~ but then few weeks ago one day i was waiting for my friends to get cakes that i went to look at all the chocolates and was quite intrigued by the names~~~ so i decided i'll buy them for the movie (^O^);;; the SEN5ES ppl were like "is this a present?"... uh, no, it's for myself?! hahahaaa! yah probably not a lot of ppl would shell out $22 to buy chocolates for themselves?! (^O^);;; but then again, i really wanted to try how good those chocos are too since it's Thomas Haas~
and yah, some of them were indeed, simply amazing... well, out of the 12 chocolates i absolutely *love* 4 of them. so, 1/3 chance is not bad i guess?! (^O^);;; i based my subjective opinion strictly on how strong the said flavours tasted. so, from top row, left to right...
bittersweet chocolate ganache & cassis -- silky dark chocolate paired with a thin layer of pure intense cassis gelee, topped with a hand-painted chocolate plaquette, 75% cocoa [i didn't know what "cassis" is... (^O^);;; i only selected this one cuz it's *purple* and very pretty looking~~~ hahahaa! didn't taste as nice tho. i mean, just like chocolate, so i still dunno what's cassis flavour ^O^;;;]
marc de champagne truffle -- milk chocolate ganache perfumed with champagne and eau de vie from champagne grapes, 40% cocoa [LOVES this one, quite strong champagne taste, compared to the other cognac one~]
manjari -- rich and complex dark chocolate ganache with fruit notes, 64% cocoa [think i like this one too?! the fruit tastes were quite noticeable]
bittersweet chocolate ganache & raspberry -- silky dark chocolate paired with a thin layer of pure intense raspberry gelee, topped with a hand-painted chocolate plaquette, 75% cocoa [no distinct raspberry taste whatsoever]
cognac truffle -- dark chocolate ganache perfumed with Remy Martin VSOP, rolled in red cocoa powder, 60% cocoa
white chocolate ganache with kalamansi -- smooth satin white chocolate ganache paired with a thin layer of refreshing kalamansi (a citrus fruit from the Phillipines) gelee, topped with a hand-painted chocolate plaquette [didn't know what's kalamansi either... but WOW, LOVES this one! sour~~~ quite good!]
pink grapefruit with campari truffle -- white chocolate ganache blended with a cocktail of pink grapefruit juice and campari [i thought i'd really like this one, cuz i like *pink* grapefruit. and well, the white truffle ball is tinted with pink dots! CUTE! but actual taste, not enough grapefruit flavour]
jamaican rum truffle -- milk chocolate ganache with jamaican "rhum", rolled in extra dark cocoa and sugar for a delightful crunch, 40% cocoa
bittersweet chocolate ganache & lychee -- silky dark chocolate paired with a thin layer of pure intense fresh lychee gelee, topped with a hand-painted chocolate plaquette, 75% cocoa [FAVE~~~ indeed, there's the intense lychee taste! OMG!!! wonderful~~~]
orange & grand marnier -- milk chocolate ganache infused with fresh orange and a hint of grand marnier, 40% cocoa [SO GOOD. OMG. this was the last one i had. *perfect* ending~ i really like grand marnier~ heheheh! actually can't decide whether this one is fave or the lychee one... well, both are top faves!]
passion fruit tahitian vanilla truffle -- white chocolate ganache blended with fresh passion fruit, vanilla beans from Tahiti, and a splash of vodka [other than the grapefruit one, i also thought i'd really like this cuz i love passion fruit. but nope, can't taste its flavour]
bittersweet chocolate ganache & passion fruit -- silky dark chocolate paired with a thin layer of pure intense passion fruit gelee and tahitian vanilla, topped with a hand-painted chocolate plaquette, 75% cocoa [same as above, no distinct passion fruit taste. so sad. i love passion fruit. and i think these two are what drove me into buying the choco to eat in the first place when i saw their names~~~]
