Rolling Stone Magazine is currently compiling a list of the 100 greatest Guitar Rock Songs of all time.

Many will have their own favourites, perhaps a special song in their life when played brings one back to Memory Lane of times past, when driving the open road to Ozzy's "Crazy Train".

Now Public readers I am sure would love their own Guitar Gods photo posted in this story, I say Go Ahead, preferably posting them in their classic Guitar pose, such as Slash's (Piano or Desert Guitar stance).

For me, Chuck Berry is my God,  Johnny B Goode,  blew me away at the tender age of six  in the mid 60's  driving with my  Dad with the top down to the local A&W, hence a past memory of Good Times, to Johnny B Goode.

Thanks Chuck!

This is what makes a great rock & rollguitar sound: an irresistible riff; a solo or jam that takes youhigher every time you hear it; the final power chord that pins youto the wall and makes you hit "play" again and again. Every songhere has those thrills.

But these are rock's greatest guitarmoments because of what's inside the notes: hunger, fury, despairand joy, often all at once.

You hear the blues, gospel androckabilly that came before, transormed by the need to saysomething new and loud, right away.

Rock & roll has been thesound of independence for half a century. The guitar is still itsessential, liberating voice. These are the 100 reasons why.

I'm glad The Pixies weren't overlooked, but I'd have chosen Where Is My Mind...

Waitwaitwait... WHAT?! No Paint It Black?

(What I admit to loving about these lists is the outrage elicited in readers when their top picks are overlooked)

Thanks for the comments Jordan, I am sure many great guitarists will be overlooked in the Rolling Stones List.

Steve Stevens for example, Billy Idol's flamboyant dressed in White Leathers and stillettos guitarist, I am sure Steve Stevens Rock Guitar Solo Riff on "Flesh for Fantasy", should have placed right up there.

As for me, I still have my Dads 1962 GIbson acoustic, and through the years have collected 8 guitars, from a 1960's classical Spanish guitar, 1960's Electric Les Paul, a 1970's Gibson Eiphone12 string, A 1990's Washburn Dreadnought, to my 1980's Martin acoustic, Quebec made New Acoustic guitar "Art Lutherie", and a recently Pawn shop purchase of a 1975 Takamine Acoustic.

To me,  collecting Guitars is a disease, much like women and shoes.  I used to display them on stands, until my kids started crawling, so for obvious reasons, I left them at my brothers place, much to his orgasmic pleasure.

It has only been a 6 years now that my girls are grown and left the nest and my son now 19. I have once again placed them in the livingroom on their stands for display.

Just before I moved to BC in 2000, I went to my brothers place to pick up my (then) 4 guitars, my brother Sean had a Death Like Grip on each one as he reluctantly placed each one into my hand.  He still laments to this day, giving them back, guess I know why he kept saying to my wife, "You know, you should have more kids"!

I Never saw someone so distraught over guitars, but his wife won't let him get into the prohibitively expensive guitar collection game.  Guests in my home always make a Beeline for my guitars, even the air guitar enthusiasts.

A well-crafted guitar is truly a thing of beauty, even for those of us who can't play... hey, neither could Leo Fender (though I think he played sax as a child).

So true, I love my Gitboxes, insuring them is a killer though.

Thanks Azzay, yep Jimmy is a icon, though his burning and smashing of Rare guitars (at todays market) made me cringe.
