Horrible! The ages of kids getting caught up in this kind of stuff is getting lower and lower; when will it stop? When toddlers are foaming at the mouth?!

An 11 year old child should not be arrested. Criminalizing a child for something an adult supplied him with is uncivilized. He should be taken to a facility where he can receive intervention for the use of drugs and also have his family situation evaluated. Putting him in jail does not address the underlying problem of how is he getting the drugs and why is he compelled to use them.
The suppliers in this case are the criminals and should be prosecuted accordingly. I remember seeing the movie Train Spotting years ago about the drug culture in Scotland, which really is no different than anywhere else in the world. It's a global problem, not just in Scotland, and until countries can unite in some kind of effort to decriminalize addiction and treat it as an illness and reduce the demand for drugs, then the demand for drugs and the trafficking will continue.
In the United States, Mexico and South America are the suppliers. The "war on drugs" has never been successful here, and the insidious drug culture continues.
