The 140 Characters Conference is both A) real, and B) taking place in New York as we speak. Great. A conference where people tweet about talking about tweeting about talking about tweeting. I'd rather snack on a scorpion sandwich. Jeff Pulver's brainchild is drawing the twitterati to Manhattan for two days of twavel-gazing.

Still, for the second straight year, Twitter is the hot topic for media pundits and marketers alike.

In a nod to Twitter's chokehold on the mainstream consiousness, Time Magazine answered the often-asked "what-is-Twitter-and-why-do-I-care?" question, with this breathless cover story.

Make no mistake: a conference like this is only for folks trying to figure out how to sell you stuff via a free service.

One may presume that the seminars would be remarkably brief?

If you're not at the 140 Conference, here's what you're missing.

The conference was about so much more than twitter. This article is lame.

Recently I too joined the Twitter with lots of hope that I might be chating the celebs. But to my misfortune nobody responded to it.
