£170 an hour to fix a phone system? You must be kidding.
I have just been quoted £170 for an office switchboard to be fixed. I find this incredulous. I have never heard of a phone engineer charging so much, or is this normal? Surely even brain surgeons don't earn that much. The clock will be ticking even when he uses the stairs to get to the phones. They should use a lift instead.
With the recession in mind, companies will look at that and think, let's find someone else. In fact, I have done a google search and found someone who charges from £44 to £120 an hour for the same type of switchboard.
Just because this other guy 'supplied the switchboard', he thinks that he has a monopoly and that we are too lazy to get anyone else instead.
£170, that's about the price of a two week package in sunny Spain. Even the BT man I spoke thought that was a lot, even he didn't earn anywhere that much.
