2008 Tony Award Winners
The 62nd Tony Awards were given out this past Sunday.
Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific" dominated Broadway's top honors, the Tony Awards, with seven prizes on Sunday, followed by the Pulitzer Prize-winning play "August: Osage County" with five wins.
"South Pacific," nominated for 11 Tonys, picked up awards for best musical revival, best musical director (Bartlett Sher), best leading actor in a musical (Paulo Szot), scenery, costume, lighting and sound.

"In the Heights," a bold new musical about Latinos in upper Manhattan, captured an eye-popping 13 Tony nominations, and the critically praised revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "South Pacific" won 12 as the 62nd annual Tony Awards nominees were unveiled today.
"August: Osage County," the Pulitzer Prize-winning play about a dysfunctional Oklahoma family, captured seven nominations, followed by "The 39 Steps," a humorous reenactment of Alfred Hitchcock's classic film, which won six.
The awards, to be announced at Radio City Music Hall on June 15, featured a mixture of nominees for highly praised dramatic revivals such as "Macbeth" and "Les Liaisons Dangereuses," along with well-known musicals, such as "Gypsy" and "Sunday in the Park with George." A special Tony award for lifetime achievement in the theater will be presented to Stephen Sondheim at the awards ceremony, to be broadcast on CBS and hosted by Whoopi Goldberg.

This is the cover of a 78rpm record album that I purchased in early 2008 from a thrift shop. I was primarily attracted to its bold cover graphics. I collect vintage 33 and 78 rpm records and enjoy listening to them on vintage & antique equipment.
