NP Rank:
2008's Best Guilty Pleasure Movies

Everyone is doing a best and worst of list, so here's something a little different. The 7 best guilty pleasure movies of 2008. Why 7, because I couldn't think of 10. That is probably as a result of not watching everything released this year. Although Punisher: War Zone is on the Netflix queue, so this list may be re-visited.
7. Semi Pro - Everyone disliked this movie and it flopped. Why? Perhaps Will Ferrell sports comedies are now boring or maybe because it wasn't what people were expecting. The movie had its over-the-top moments, but compared to others it was kind of grounded and took itself more seriously.
6. Bedtime Stories - Adam Sandler and Disney working together doesn't make sense, but it worked. It was a fun family movie. There is not much else to say.
5. Rambo - I was always more of a Rocky guy, but this fourth installment of the Rambo franchise was like the year's best guy flick. It was mindless (to a degree), stuff blew up, and the body count was high. What more could a guy ask for?
4. Speed Racer - Aside from the movie being 30 minutes too long I didn't find anything wrong with it. It was a fun live-action cartoon.
3. Quantum of Solace - This movie disappointed every Casino Royale fan, rightfully so. However, it worked as a typical Bond movie.
2. Wanted - Many people dislike what they believed to be the movie's message: life is more exciting when you kill people. Perhaps they have a point. However, the action scenes were awesome and as a guy that was good enough for me.
1. Drillbit Taylor - Everyone called this movie a poor man's Superbad. I disagree. If anything...the lack of Jonah Hill made this a some-what better movie. The story was silly, sure, but I was honestly laughing throughout most of the movie. Also, the characters were very likable...even if they were very familiar.
