Iron Maiden Brit Award

Pop star Duffy was the big winner at the 2009 BRIT Awards, taking home 3 trophies, at the awards gala held Wednesday evening in London.

Duffy won Best British Female Solo Artist, British Breakthrough Act, and Best Album for "Rockferry".

Other winners included 80s pop singer Paul Weller who won for Best Male Solo Artist, equally-retro, metal shredders Iron Maiden who won Best British Live Act, and American rock group Kings of Leon, who took home two prizes, Best International Group and Best International Album for their excellent record "Only By The Night".

Noticeably absent from the list of award winners were acclaimed British bands Coldplay and Radiohead.

The awards show also featured performances by U2, co-host Kylie Minogue, and the Pet Shop Boys — who were honoured for their Outstanding Contribution to Music.
