2009 Golden Globe Nominations Announced

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced nominees for the 2009 Golden Globe Awards.
Leading the pack for television nominations are HBO's movie Recount and the series In Treatment, which each received five nominations.
Also rounding out the tv nods, were three each for 30 Rock and Entourage.
Winners of the 66th Annual Golden Globes will be announced on January 11, 2009.
Fey's very good year continued today with three Golden Globe nominations for 30 Rock. Entourage matched that total, the most of any TV comedy series.In Treatment scored five nods, tops for a TV drama series. It tied the HBO movie Recount for the most overall nominations.
30 Rock and Entourage will compete for Best TV Series, Comedy or Musical against Californication, The Office and Weeds.
In Treatment will vie for Best TV Series, Drama opposite Dexter, House, Mad Men and True Blood.
Fey also notched an acting nomination, as did her costar, Alec Baldwin.
Winners of the 66th Annual Golden Globes are scheduled to be announced Jan. 11.
Slumdog Millionaire and Vicky Cristina Barcelona are close behind with four nominations apiece.
Also of note are acting nominations for Sean Penn's performance in Milk, a posthumous nomination for Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker in Batman: The Dark Knight, as well as nods to Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei for their work in The Wrestler.
Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Anne Hathaway were also nominated.
Competing for best actress in a film drama will be veteran Meryl Streep for "Doubt," Angelina Jolie in "Changeling," Kate Winslet in "Revolutionary Road," Anne Hathaway in "Rachel Getting Married" and Kristin Scott Thomas for French movie, "I've Loved You So Long."
What is beyond me, however, is that the Golden Globes saw fit to nominate both Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jr. for their performances in the utterly unwatchable Ben Stiller "comedy" Tropic Thunder.
I mean, seriously guys?
Universal, Miramax and Paramount/Warners are heaving huge sighs of relief that the Golden Globes rewarded Frost/Nixon, Doubt and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with five nominations apiece. The three films had been virtually overlooked by influential critics' groups in L.A. and N.Y. this week. Only Frost/Nixon and Benjamin Button were nominated in the Globes' best feature drama category, though, which tends to carry more weight than the comedy category. Doubt scored four acting noms, plus screenplay for John Patrick Shanley.
Well on their way to awards season glory are Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire (Fox Searchlight) and Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona (Weinstein Co.). which nabbed four noms apiece. And Searchlight's The Wrestler is solidifying more acting noms for Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei.

i saw the performance of heath ledger first time in dark knight ..and became a fan of him.
really such a incredible and powerful role he played in the movie.
now its time to salute his last work he did.

Clint Eastwood is one of the legends of the silver screen, from his humble beginnings as the Man With No Name in Sergio Leone westerns to Dirty Harry the kick-butt cop. Nevertheless, the Clint new movie is quite an experience. It looks terrific and really feels like the 1920s in Los Angeles. This film was heartbreaking, even disturbing in some scenes. This film is for every parent out there who has a family, a child. Don't ever stop searching for something you love and always hold onto hope.
