The Oscar nominees for Best Original Song and Best Score have been released, and the list leads off with a double nomination for Randy Newman, who was nominated for songs "Almost There" and "Down in New Orleans", both produced for the animated film The Princess and the Frog.

Academy Awards Best Original Song nominees are:

  • Reinhardt Wagner and Frank Thomas - "Loin de Paname" from French musical Paris 36.
  • Maury Yeston -"Take It All" from the musical Nine.

James Horner - Avatar.

Alexandre Desplat - Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Marco Beltrami and Buck Sanders - The Hurt Locker.

Hans Zimmer - Sherlock Holmes.
