2012 Golden Globes: Madonna and Elton John Feud
Even in the celebrity world, people can’t be happy with others’ success.
Madonna won the Best Original Song in a Motion Picture award for her song “Masterpiece” in her own film “W.E.”, and Elton John and his hubby David Furnish weren’t celebrating with her.
Before the 2012 Golden Globes, Elton John reportedly told a red carpet reporter that Madonna “had no "f**kin' chance" of winning the award.
According to Billboard, when Carson Daly told Madonna about Elton's jab, she asked, "Was he wearing a dress?' … adding, "May the best man win."
David Furnish’s Reaction to Madonna’s Victory
After Madonna won the ward, David logged on to Facebook to vent. “Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!! Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism.” Not only that, but he made a jab at Madonna’s thoughts on Lady Gaga, “And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is.”
Elton was nominated in the category for his song “Hello Hello” in the film Gnomeo and Juliet.
Madonna, however, isn’t upset. According to US Weekly, she hopes they can patch things up. "I hope he speaks to me for the next couple of years, he's been known to get mad at me so I don't know. He's brilliant and I adore him so he'll win another award. I don't feel bad!"
