There are so many big matches on the card for WWE's Elimination Chamber 2013, it's hard to predict exactly how the night will go.
With The Rock's title defense, he's guaranteed to go on last. Other than that, the pay-per-view is completely up in the air. You've got four titles being defended, with two other massive matches. WWE could go in a ton of different directions.
This could very well be the match order for Elimination Chamber.
The Elimination Chamber match is a bit of a wild card. WWE led off the 2012 Elimination Chamber PPV with the WWE Title Chamber match, so it's not unprecedented to have the event's namesake lead off the show.
There are quite a few big matches, so one of them is going to get short shrift in terms of its placement on the card. You can't just have big match after big match; otherwise, the crowd will be dead by the time the main event rolls around.
The only problem with having the Elimination Chamber match before Alberto Del Rio and Big Show face off is that it possibly takes away from the drama of who will come out the victor in the title match. Fans will get a good idea of who will be holding the belt going to WrestleMania after the winner of the Chamber match is determined.
Match 2: Antonio Cesaro (c) vs. The Miz for United States Championship
This will unlikely be the end of the feud between Antonio Cesaro and The Miz. It's not the right time to have the face go over the heel, so this match is more about making Cesaro look even stronger than he has over the last few weeks.
With no title change, there's little reason to put this anywhere but in the first couple matches on the card. The two should put on a good show, but the ramifications are much lower than almost every other battle on the PPV.
It will be a great opportunity for the fans to come down from the high of however the previous match ended while simultaneously building up the heat for the next big match.
Match 3: Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. Big Show for World Heavyweight Championship
As mentioned earlier, some of the heat from this match could be taken away from the result of the Chamber match. If Chris Jericho wins, most fans will be waiting for the end of the match and Dolph Ziggler to come out and cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase.
It's a bit of a tough position for Alberto Del Rio and Big Show. Their feud has been put together so well. Even though these two have faced off so many times before, there is a lot of interest in who comes out on top. Yet still, fans might be sitting on their hands waiting for something that might not even happen tonight.
A strong argument could be made that the World Heavyweight Championship match should go on before the Chamber match. However, the allure and prestige of a title match is too strong to see it go on after what is essentially a No. 1 contender match.
Match 4: Kaitlyn (c) vs. Tamina Snuka for Divas Championship
This is nothing more than a buffer match between the biggest contests on the card. You could probably count on one hand the amount of people who actually care who wins this fight.
It's a bit of an indictment of the way WWE treats the Divas division. The company hasn't given fans a reason to like or hate any of the Divas, so why would they become interested in who wins the title? When Eve left, so went the best thing going.
The Divas title match is very flexible in terms of its placement on the PPV. It could realistically be an option for just about any position but the main event.
Match 5: The Shield vs. John Cena, Ryback and Sheamus
If it weren't for The Rock, John Cena would be headlining yet another PPV. By virtue ofWWE booking, Cena has to be as close as possible to the main event, so he'll be on the match right before it.
Seriously, though, there are a lot of ways this match could go. The super-team of Cena,Ryback and Sheamus doesn't look like it's going to lose, but you could see a different Shield member or something else that would help to move that storyline along.
The last time The Shield wrestled, it was at TLC 2012 back in December. It was a spectacular match and one of the best of 2012. With so much talent/star power in the ring at once, this could be one of the more entertaining matches of the night, barring The Shield doesn't get completely squashed.
Match 6: The Rock (c) vs. CM Punk for WWE Championship
If there's one lock on this card, it's that The Rock and CM Punk will be the final match of the night. Their feud has been the final segment of almost every single Raw in which both guys were actually on the show. The Rock is the biggest star in the company, so he's supplanted Cena as the go-to main eventer.
There isn't another match at Elimination Chamber that's garnering more buzz than theWWE title match. The main event for WrestleMania will be set in stone after the outcome, so there's a lot riding on the match beyond just the title.
