Dale Steyn, who was not part of the squad for the first ODI in Bloemfontein, which South Africa won by 125 runs on Sunday, returned to the South African team for the day-night game in place of Rory Kleinveldt.

Pakistan also made one change, with Mohammad Irfan, the paceman, replacing Asad Shafiq, the batsman. Misbah-ul-Haq had hinted at the change on the eve of the match after Pakistan conceded 315 runs to the South Africans in the first game, having gone in with only two frontline pacers in Junaid Khan and Umar Gul.
