The 34th Toronto International Film Festival -TIFF 2009
Toronto's Yonge Street and Dundas Square is spotlighting the 34th Toronto International Film Festival this year.
With over 300 films the festival's creative catalyst highlights the best in Canadian Cinema showcasing Canadian directors, short films and new up and coming filmakers' talent.
In retrospect, it is called 'international' for a reason.. the main focus of the festival is in its presentation of documentaries from all around the world and all corners of the earth.
With Tel-Aviv celebrating its 100th birthday this year (Israel's economic and cultural capital) relatively new on the scene, their cinema is in an exploratory state and with films like PHOBIDILIA - a stylized feature film about an agoraphobic man in Tel Aviv. Parallel to reality, the main character is reaching out to the world for companionship thru television and the internet from his apartment that he refuses to leave.
However, the Mavericks of film and cinema may also draw the audiences with their familiarity: headline leaders like Michael Caine and Chris Rock also use the same forum for their latest projects.
The Midnight Madness continues as the late hours hit the festival schedule where fans can catch midnight screenings of weird, eccentric, crazed, zombie, vampire content.
'Real to Reel' movies always seem to be the best in international hot topics of the year, probing explorations of the cultural phenomena and striving to transform and understand the way people see the real world through film.
Cultural creative art forms, accessible, insightful, transformational and provocative, there is no surprise why the Toronto International Film Festival draws A-list celebrities and audiences from every corner of the earth each year and it all starts tomorrow September 10 to the 19th!
