It is charming story no doubt, yet what a daunting task for such a young child to be carrying the spirit of nation's independence (to be celebrated this Sunday on the 31st August).

Mohd Sharulnizam Mohd Noor, a 4 years old sprite, peddled as the youngest climber in Malaysia is planning to climb the 325-metre high Eiffel Tower 5 times this December all in spirit of celebrating Merdeka (independence day).

Sharulnizam's father, Mohd Noor Mat Amin, who works as a photographer for a local malay daily is also the hononary coach, acting guider and his active supporter will be accompanying the energetic boy to France.

The boy has already impressed the nation as well as stampped a name for himself in the Malaysian Book of Records earlier this year when he became the youngest climber to ascend the steps of KL Tower on June 6.

Both son and father have also climbed the newly opened 19-storey Felda Residence Hotel (of 432 steps) for 51 times over 2 days last weekend to match the years of Malaysia's independence.

And today, they managed to go up the KL Tower 51 times in their Merdeka Climb 2008 campaign. The KL Tower is 421m in height and it is the fifth tallest tower in the world, next only to CN, Ostankino, Oriental and Milad towers.

Mohd Noor said the plan was to leave for France in November to prepare Sharulnizam for training in Paris 2 weeks prior to the eventual climb of Eifel Tower.

In any case, the lively boy has been attending quite rigorous training sessions in KL and with no signs of quitting. His physical health and heartbeat are frequently monitored throughout trainings and climbs.

The boy had even cheekily remarked that he would love to fly the Malaysian flag from the top of Eiffel after the 5 climbs.

The father holds an optimistic view of the climb which he said to the local newswire, "Both of us have the stamina to complete the climb as I make it a daily routine to climb several flights of stairs at our apartment blocks in Kuala Lumpur. And my son has yet to complain of any aches or cramps."

However just by looking at the mischevious 4 years old boy who exclaims "I just love to climb", you know he's going to enjoy all the media attention (of course) but also the experience of climbing one of the most iconic tower in the world oui?

That's a lot of steps for a little guy- and each one is, proportionally, more than twice as high as it would be for grown-ups.

When you wrote "scale", I imagined a 4-yr-old aid-climbing up the outside of the tower!

Boy, i would love to "scale" along with him if that's the case... :) Many thanks Jordan.

Great story, they both may have the stamina but I bet the kid will be flying up there compared to his dad. ;-)

I went to London and Paris in April with two of my children for Spring break. While in Paris, I looked forward to visiting the Eiffel tower which is talked about so much here in the U.S. This picture of the Eiffel Tower was one of many taken from different angles. The awesomeness of this structure captivated my interest that I had to take as many pictures as I could to show my students who were not there to see what I saw. It was meant to be a teaching moment for others who've never been to see the Eiffel Tower.

On a weekend trip to Paris, august 2008, myself and my brother spent alot of our time near the Eiffeil tower as well as in it. It's breathtaking view held us captured while looking over Paris, both in eveningtime and daytime.

I have no doubt in mind I will return to Paris, and I will walk up the Eiffel tower, again.

This is one of the many views of the Eiffel Tower at Paris, France. I'm sure many people were a bit shocked to watch a mexican wrestler (Blue Demon's mask) in France, haha.

If you ever go to Paris, the Eiffel Tower can give you just a small sample of all the good moments you can take back home.
Thanks to NowPublic for the request.
