It looks like 4Chan.org is unblocked: apparently AT&T came to its senses just a day after blocking 4Chan. Will this stop 4Chan's widespread and difficult-to-control netizens from continuing to go after AT&T, just to prove a point, or just for the lulz?

Time will tell, time will tell.

Either way, the block is lifted, which is probably for the best, since AT&T's action wasn't even necessarily legal, so they'd be facing bot legal nastygrams and swarms of pranksters. LEt's face it, AT&T is like the Death Star of telecoms (just look at their logo), and every Death Star has a thermal exhaust port.

Late in the evening, a fake story surfaced on CNN's iReport citizen journalism site alleging that AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson had been "found dead in his multimillion dollar beachfront mansion" after a cocaine overdose.

Suffice it to say that the two events are likely connected.

Now, as quickly as it started, AT&T customers are reporting that 4chan is unblocked. Except for the fact that 4chan is currently suffering from a DDOS attack that’s taken the site down in a seemingly unrelated coincidence.

This was definitely for the best. I was waiting for either the ban to be lifted or the news of the pranks being played on AT&T employees and executives alike.
