86th Annual NYSE Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
Taking place today, December 10 in front of the the New York Stock Exchange beginning at 3:00 pm
This year will mark the 86th annual NYSE Christmas tree lighting ceremony
-- one of the oldest in New York -- and will feature an all-star lineup of
entertainers including: Grammy award-winning jazz group, The Manhattan
Transfer; rock bands Honor Society, Twisted Sister, Collective Soul and
Stryper; the cast of the Broadway musical, “Rock of Ages;” The Muppets;
teen choir, The Monsignor Donovan Choir; singer/songwriter and daughter of
Billy Joel and Christy Brinkley, Alexa Ray Joel; country music artist,
David Nail; Grammy award-winning violinist, Joshua Bell; One Tree Hill
actress and singer/songwriter, Kate Vogele, and Meet the Browns actress and
gospel singer Tamela Mann.
The tree lighting ceremony will take place on Broad Street between Wall
Street and Exchange Place and will begin at 3:00 p.m. with performances
lasting through 6 p.m. The Christmas tree will be lit at 4:55 p.m.
About the NYSE Christmas tree:
This year’s NYSE Christmas tree is a 65’ high, 34’ wide Norway Spruce which
hails from Ramapo, New York. Situated in front of the NYSE façade, the
tree will be decorated with 10,000 multi-colored lights, 250 multi-colored balls with
the NYSE Euronext logo and a 6’ star on top, all supported on a 8’ x 10’
base fashioned as a gift box.
