A new movement is swelling in the United States as a reaction to the economic crisis and it is headed by Glenn Beck.  Called the 912 Project, Glenn Beck's policy emphasizes the importance of 9 principles and 12 values that he says have been lost in the USA today.

Glenn Beck claims that 12 core values are essential to a strong country and that these values have been lost in a cloud of greed and corruption.  According to Beck Americans have lost their way and that the 12 values must be restored before things can get better.

The 12 values Glenn Beck is telling Americans they must embrace are:

  • Honesty
  • Reverence
  • Hope
  • Thrift
  • Humility
  • Charity
  • Sincerity
  • Moderation
  • Hard Work
  • Courage
  • Personal Responsibility
  • Gratitude

Glenn Beck is also telling Americans in all walks of life that there are 9 principles that must be lived by:

The Nine Principles

1. America is good.

2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.

3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.

4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.

5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.

6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.

7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.

8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.

9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.

Watch Glenn Beck Live on Fox News: We The People, You Are Not Alone

Not everybody is a fan of Glenn Beck and the 912 Project.  Several critical articles have surfaced since the Fox News show introducing the912project.com first aired.

The most consistent complaint about Beck's ideology is the way it ignores how a Republican government was in power when the "transgressions" that caused the financial collapse took place.

The site, which is currently offline as we write this post, defines essential American qualities such as believing in god, being opposed to income tax, being pro marriage (as long as your straight) and many other gems.

It’s more of the same that we’ve seen from the hard right recently, this whole socialism is bad, our money is being stolen for us, Barack is a Communist etc etc. While some of those points might be true, what they continue to overlook is that Bush created the mess the country is in today, and Bush was the one that run up the foreign debt and started the bailouts. But no, it’s only bad now a new, black guy takes over the mess.

In the show launching the The 912 Project, Beck interviewed Chuck Norris, who earlier this week said that thousands of militia were preparing for a military takeover of the United States. If that doesn’t say batshit crazy, I’m not sure what else can.

Note: the912project.com site is still offline.

Glen,

Thank you for starting this movement.  We the people are ready.  We have been looking for a place to start.  Let's see what happens.  We have done our personal calling of Representative's and Senators' offices, locally, in Washington, and by email.  They are on speed dial!!The local office says that they will refer the message that day.  But guess what?  When we do get responses on email, it is a month after the fact.  DUH!  After the vote!!??  What is going on?  If you can direct us in strategy, we will accept your guidance.

Thank you for hearing the call and God Bless America.

 My humble host Glenn,

The thought came to me when you had the girl on from the wonder years and you talked about how much money it would be if it was divide up among the american people, I'm not sure of the amount on one trillion dollars, I thought it was about $3000 to 4000 dollars, not that most of us have not sacrificed enough all ready, but what would happen if every american allowed our government to keep our tax return for one year, or maybe two years, how close would we be to paying off our national debt? would it save our children and grand children from taking on this burden, would that get us out of this hole we are in? what would it take? I would give back my share rather then have to go through years of heartache and stress, what do you think about that idea, maybe some one has an idea to build on this one. just one added note, I have a daughter and her husband serving in our Marine corp. My daughter is serving in Afghanistan and her husband is in Iraq, On his second tour of duty, there names are Zack and Lisa Gallenburg, when Zack was serving on his first tour, my daughter decided to join, he headed back to Hawaii for more training and came home for just a couple of days so they could ged married, he arrived on a saturday and got married on sunday and shipped back out to Hawaii to finnish his training before heading back ti Iraq, they never had a real chance to have a real life together or a honeymoon, I sure hope they will get that chance, I pray they get a safe return and a real chance at life, and this ends soon, I'm not feeling to optimistic that this will Happen, God then Family just like you keep saying, keep the faith! Keep up the good work!

P.S. You do have that Tammy Fay Baker look... Except for the hair... :)Steven And Cathy Potter, 1000 Genesee Street, Waukesha WI. 53186  Thanks again for all you do

The 912 project is a really good idea and I hope something will come of it.  If enough people get involved it might be even possible to pressure state legislatures to call a constitutional convention for the purpose of making a few amendments.  Good ones that spring to mind would be congressional term limits and requiring a federal balanced budget.

It seems that Glen is reaching out to all of the people that feel betrayed by their elected representatives be they Republican or Democrat.  Most of this betrayal stems from the fact that spending is out of control!  The Republicans spent a massive amount of money on the Iraq War which included no-bid contracts for companies like Halliburton.  Meanwhile, the Democrats have spent the first few months of this year trying to top the GOP's crazy spending.  It makes absolutely no sense to try to spend our way out of a recession.  In the end, if these deficits continue our economy will most likely collapse and we will face a depression that will make the one in the 30s look like a warm-up.

Thank you Glen Beck!  You have managed to do the "one thing" that those yahoo's in Washington have failed to do... Unite the People of America in a cause that really will make a difference, not one that makes people get goosebumps up their legs because they think they finally have a Hollywood rockstar in the White House!  All we need are some T-Shirts now with a big 9.12 on the back... I am so grateful you have taken up this cause, one that surely will catch on with anyone who is quickly losing faith in our system of government.  It's not too late, it's never too late to take a stand for this great country.

Thank you Glen and God Bless and Protect you and your family!

I am so greatful for all Glenn does.  I feel very alone.  Im unemployed not because i am lazy but because I am laid off and the jobs just are not there.  I see the government adding more regulation and taxes on me and on the future of my children.  Soon I could easily see my home gone as well as everything I have worked so hard for.  I am not wanting sympathy or a hand out.  I just wish Obama and his cronies would realize I want a hand up so I could work again.  Its refreshing to see that no matter what happens, that Americans are banding together to again take back their country from all the jerks in Washington.

I have been so frustrated and disheartened as when reading President Obama's proposed budget.  My husband has been self-employed in real estate for the past 10 years, and I was a teacher before staying home with my children.  My husband's profession was completely eradicated this past year.  I have been trying to obtain a teaching position, but with budget cuts there are few positions to be had.  We fall into a category of people that have always worked, paid our bills on time (until this past year), and paid annual taxes.  We have always donated money to many people and groups whenever we had it to give.  We carry insurance, but we are severly under insured.  Our current deductible is $7500.00 per year for our family.  It is unlikely that we will reach our deductible unless something unexpected occurs, God forbid.  We pay for the majority of our medical expenses.  Our children go to the doctor only when absolutely necessary, and the two of us don't go unless we are severly ill.  We also do not qualify for unemployment, as we have not been employed by a company for some time.  We started out with very little, made a good living after college, and are back at the point of counting the dollars every month.  (Oh and by the way, we paid for our own college by working days and going to school at night.)  We do own a home, for now, and will do anything we can to keep it.  My husband does any small jobs he can get to make ends meet.  We are not lazy or complacent.

I am angry and upset that this new plan seems to really benefit very low income individuals and families.  What about those of us actually trying to make it.  Don't we deserve any of this aid?  Do we deserve to keep our homes, feed our families, and qualify for assistance?  Mr. Obama can you explain to me and all the other middle class families what you can do to help us?  Or will you just let some of the most creative, hard working individuals fail and fall into poverty?  Maybe then we can qualify for some help.

Mr. Gardner brought up the idea to do a project that would give people one million dollars.  I think what he did not get to explain is that some people would make the money grow and be able to live on it for years, some would live on it until it ran out, and some would spend it as fast as they received it and be back to a low income status when it ran out.  Redistribution is the same.  No matter how much money you give to some people, they will not be good stewards of that money.  Why should people that work hard (some of them still making a good living) be forced to give money to people that won't use it wisely?  Continuing down this path will only make a select few wealthier, and the majority poorer.  Sound like socialism anyone?

Same as the story in the Bible - three men were given money from a farmer.  All three did something different with the money.  One of them turned it into more money.  True many people don't know what to do with money.  That is a problem, a huge problem.  Not everyone is wise with their money.  People need to be taught.  And you are right I think Mr. Gardners research will prove your point, that somepeople will always use money unwisely.  However no one is talking about taking your money and giving it to someone else.  He just said they are doing a study instead of the stimulius package what if we gave everyone a million dollars.

Cudos to you and your family for all you have done.  And it is people like you who should be able to find help.  Because you are working as hard as you can to keep what you have, and yes Obama doesn't want to help us until we are all so poverty stricken that we have no choice to sit around and drool and accept help from them.

Wow!! I'm still having trouble getting on the site.  There aren't any words to describe the feelings Glen Beck is bringing up in me.  I pray that this catches on and "We the People" take back the United States of America

I am getting the access forbidden error as well.

Great show Glen!  I am behind you 100%.  The tea party grassroots movement reteaparty.com supports the same cause.  There will be nationwide tea parties held on 4/15 and other dates.  We need to join all of these like minded groups into a coalition and act together.

They can have my freedom when they pry it from my cold dead hand.

I can't believe you people think a shill for the Republican Right, who served as a mouthpiece for Bush's lies on Fox, is going to help you reclaim values and principles. Absolutely unreal.

1
Glenfan

Um, you realize that Glen is more of a Libertarian than a Republican right? Also, he wasn't even on Fox when Bush was in office, he was on CNN Headline News.
Care to expand on what Bush lies you are talking about. It is well documented that the Bush Administration/CIA mislead the public on their reasoning to go to war. Of course, if their real reason were to take out Saddam to intimidate/provide an invasion point for Iran, nobody would have gone for it. That said, besides that I'm not sure what other lies there were. I certainly didn't agree with many of the Bush administrations policies (especially the bailouts of 2008) but also don't understand the hyperbole that exists on the internet and some media about how terrible Bush was. Mainly, I think he was a terrible communicator and should have never even tried to sell the Iraq war to the world if he couldn't justify it with reasons that people would accept.

We all need to take this further. As Chuck Norris' wife said "we need to show our muscle." We need to stop the insane expansion of the government, the wasting away of our hard earned tax dollars and the destruction of our beliefs and principles and WE NEED TO DO IT  NOW, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!  It is almost too late. We need to act and let Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama and Harry Reid know that we won't go down this road with them and that we certainly will not be paying for it. If everyone could organize for a viewing party we can organize for a massive protest to make our voices heard. We will get the engourged government we deserve if we do nothing. It is time to fight for our principles and for our beliefs and for the country we all love. Please Glen Beck, take this project and turn it into a full blown movement we can all participate in to save our way of life. Please.

Congress has never forgotten the part about we the people they just believe their the only people that matter now.  No matter what we say I can't say all of them but some think that they are the people. They seem to think now that Obama is president they think they no longer have to follow by the same rule which is obsured.  They  stil have to answer to the people who put them into office and pass bills that the american people want not just democrats or even republican.  If they don't wise up soon they'll find themselves without a job.  Remember we put them in office and can easily take them out next time we need to vote if they dont listen to all of us.

I am so glad to know that I am not alone.  Being a Conservative and watching the Liberal left drag us into Socialism makes me ill.  The Liberal left is not alone in this, as the Republican Party also has to share the blame.  The elected officials that hold office are arrogant and do not listen to WE THE PEOPLE.  I am not just talking about the President and Congress but State and local politicians as well.  They are drunk with power and they seem to think that they know what is best for us.  I say what is best for us is for us to take our Country back.  I do not trust any politician, Democrat or Republican, and they will have a hard time to earn back my trust.  We are the silent majority and it is time that we stand up and let these arrogant weasels know that we are mad as hell and are not going to take it anymore.  All of you Politicians better listen up.  There is a movement going on and we are going to be heard.  The USA stands for the United States of America and not the United Socialist America.  I am with all of you.  May God Bless each and everyone in this great Nation.

Good 'ol Repubs, just scream 'Socialism' or 'Commmunism' and the sheep jump in line. Disregard the fact that the massive spending going on now is neccesary to try to avoid a Republican-engineered Depression....

It is fairly well known that recessions are cyclical in nature and occur about once per decade.  The Clinton Administration, Bush Administration, Obama Administration, and Congress have done their parts to worsen this one with both ridiculous bailouts for over a year and creating the housing crisis by mandating that banks give loans to borrowers with no income or collateral on the basis of civil rights or equality.  These loans were then sold to Freddie and Fannie and when a housing bubble occurred due to overproduction by builders, they unloaded them as securities to Wallstreet.  Unfortunately for Walstreet, accounting rules instituted after the Enron scandal made what might have been a decent bet a giant ripoff because they couldn't defer the losses on their books as before.  Also, the fact that tens of thousands of mortgages were packaged together makes it rather difficult to value these securities.  Bush and McCain are actually on record as trying to warn Congress about Freddie and Fannie in around 2005 as well as government regulators, but the idiots on the Banking/Finanace committee blew off these complaints.  Despite this, Barney Frank is still in office rather than in jail where he belongs.  So basically, this is a failure of our elected officials in general (not just Bush), which is the subject of Glen's project.

nyctuber

Right, 14 years of Republican deregulatory control and three Republican, war loving- massive deficit-creating Presidents, but it's Barney Frank's fault. Repubs fight oversight at evry turn but it's Barney's fault. Do a little checking into the list of regulations Barney proposed regarding Fannie Freddie, you might be surprised at what really happened. Recessions are not necessarily cyclical, and an out of control war monger President with a spend-us-into-the-ground Republican Congress did not help. Glenn Beck has been spewing lies, specifically anti-Democrat/liberal, Limbaugh-esque Fox News propaganda for years. And THIS is who people think stands for ethics and principles? I didn't see Glenn Beck protesting one iota when the Neocons led us down the path to ruin, started illegal wars, banned stem cell funding, destroyed the Constitution, illegally wiretapped, TORTURED... This is surreal and a sad statement of frankly how stupid alot of people are.

You know, tube, it's no use trying to label all these people 'Repubs', and trying to dis them that way.

Try to open your mind. The people here seem to have a lack of faith in either the 'Repubs', as you put it, or the 'Dems'. IMO totally understandable if you've observed the lack of response of most elected US representatives to their constituents over the last decade or so, regardless of party.

And if you hate Glen Beck so much, and he is somewhat off the wall, tho some of what he says makes a lot of sense to those who have any sense, what are you doing wasting your time on this thread?

Bravo, Glenn Beck!  And huge thanks for what you are doing.  I especially appreciate the emphasis put on the importance of God and faith.  We are in a lot of trouble in this country and moving away from God is in large part the reason for many of our problems.  Over the past years, the far Left, secularists and organizations like that ACLU have made massive efforts to totally eliminate God and religion from the United States.  If we fail to protect our constitutional rights, including freedom of religion, we do so at our peril.

We must take back our country from those who wish to destroy it.  We must get involved and prevent the United States of America from becoming nothing more than a mediocre European-style socialist society.  Self-sufficiency, personal responsibility and hard work made this country great.  Let us all work to see that those things are re-enthroned in our culture.

Thanks again, Glenn, for giving those of us who feel alone a way to channel our energies and do something to preserve our wonderful country!

I too have been trying to connect to the website and have been forbidden. There are many of us who also have the belief that our country has lost it's values and principles. Glenn is right, we need to stand up and take our country back!!  Our countries constitution was founded on God and we need to return to his teachings before it is to late.  Please upgrade the site so many more can express how they feel.  Thank you Glenn.
