ABC May Develop New Charlie's Angels TV Series
A remake of the popular 70's TV show Charlie's Angels is in the works. The crime series is being remade and networks such as ABC have already expressed interest in the project. Josh Friedman will be writing for the show as well as assuming the role of executive producer.
The project is being executive produced by the three producers of the two "Charlie's Angels" movies, Drew Barrymore, Nancy Juvonen and TV veteran Leonard Goldberg, who also executive produced the original series.
Drew Barrymore has been interested in bringing the 1970's crime show back to life ever since starring in the two film adaptations along with Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu. Charlie's Angels (2000) and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (2003) were both highly successful at the box office.
The original Charlie's Angels TV series made the late Farrah Fawcett an American TV icon through her portrayal of Jill Munroe. Many are wondering whether a remake could ever top the original series. No word yet on casting for the three angels as development is still in its early stages.
