ACE PRESTON & THE ENOLA GAY

On February 24-25 1945 174 B-29s carrying incendiaries destroyed around one square mile of the city of Tokyo. On March 9-10 to expand the coverage and increase the damage, 279 B-29s dropping around 1,700 tons of bombs destroyed approximately 16 square miles of the city killing some 100,000 people resulting in a firestorm causing more than the immediate deaths of either Hiroshima or Nagasaki.
