side of art I believe that is important to remain in touch with the
collecting side of fine art and the experience, pleasure and enjoyment

adopt an artwork, take it into their home and care for it as a

FAAN is “an online network, which uses a gift economy to connect
artists and potential collectors. All of the artworks on view are
available for adoption. This means acquiring an artwork without
purchasing it, through an arrangement between the artist and collector.
Our goal is to help increase and diversify the population of art owners
and to offer artists new means for engaging their audience.”

The works available for adoption are by artists that have been
specifically invited to submit their work by the FAAN participating
artists and collaborating organisations so there are some really
fantastic works by known artists just waiting to be snapped up. Before
anyone can adopt an artwork they have to contact the artist through the
FAAN website, provide some information about themselves and state why
they should be one of the lucky people to have an artwork given to
them. It is entirely up to the artist who gets one of the works and
there may be conditions that relate to resale and display of the work
which is more than fair enough. By putting their artworks up for
adoption the artist gets the opportunity to promote their work, create
new relationships with collectors and connoisseurs and ensure that
