The tallies are in and American Hiphop “sensation” Akon failed to satisfy the demanding Jamaican crowd that filled the Catherine Hall venue on the second night of Reggae Sumfest 2008, in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
The platinum selling artist expressed his love for Jamaica backstage in the press box but failed to exhibit it onstage with a nonchalant presentation which included a strip tease and maybe the sound was off or was he lip synching ??
The verdict is still out on that one, but despite his DJ in a dress & Tie in tow he could only capture the few teenyboppers who braved or eluded their parents to see his performance.
Even the ultra sexy Tami Chynn failed to flame the crowd, during the brief Collab on the monster single “Frozen”.
The only consolation for Akon is that he was not the only American Artist that flopped on Reggae Sumfest. T-Pain and Lil Wayne stood his course on night three and fluttered on stage lost to the reality that Jamaicans were not star struck, fanatics but people who came out for a good performance no matter how super the star.
All in All Keyshia Cole represented, a bit off key, but she represented !!
Despite a flawed lineup it was a good production.
