Ali-Ollie Woodson Dies at Age 58 After Battling Cancer
Ali-Ollie Woodson, a member of The Temptations in the 1980s and 90s died on Sunday May 30 after a battle with cancer at the age of 58. Although not an original member of the famous Motown group, Woodson replaced Dennis Edwards and helped The Temptations with the hit Treat Her Like a Lady.
The Temptations began in the 1960s and had many hits such as My Girl and Papa Was a Rolling Stone in the 60s and 70s. Then in the 80s their success started to wane and that is when Ali-Ollie Woodson joined the group.
"He had this swagger about himself. He was cool. He had a coolness about himself that was really very inviting," said Wilson. He said he first met Woodson in 1980 before Woodson joined the group and that he last spoke with his friend about two weeks ago.
After leaving The Temptations, Woodson released a solo album called Right Here All Along in 2001 and he continued to make appearances in Detroit's music clubs and was always a popular draw for fans.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced at this time and family members have no released any statement to the media.
