The Final Episode of All My Chidren Aired on September 23, 2011. What Happened in the Final Episode of AMC?

The final episode of All My Children aired on Friday, September 23, 2011. The long-running soap opera ended its run on ABC, although it may have a new life online.

What Happened in the Last Episode of AMC?

Lots happened, but little was resolved during the last episode of AMC.

The show ended with many of the main characters attending a party. Outside lurked J.R. with a gun. He fired into the house, but viewers didn't get to see who, if anyone, was shot.

Then there's Erica Kane. She got an offer to go to Hollywood. Longtime Jackson wants to know where he stands and Erica says she doesn't want to marry him.

Then there's the reference David made to an "other woman." Once again, viewers were left in the dark about that.

Clearly, the All My Children finale created more questions than it answered. Perhaps some of those questions will be resolved when and if the show moves online.

41 year AMC fan

Seeing AMC end was like closing a chapter in my own life. I remember as a child running home from school so that I could watch the then 1/2 hour soap with my Nana. It was like saying good bye to my Nana again. I hope that the show returns online. I know that I will be watching. Thanks for the 41 years!

I'm disappointed. That was not the end I had hoped for. Huge party and everyone was standing there watching Jack ran out on an Erica shouting at him while JR was behind the walls getting drunk with a gun. Not to mention Stewart never even got to the party and David still has one more person he has alive. Ughh, Why can't the shows let us end on a good note. I am still angry that this show is ending and will be replaced with a cooking talk show called the Chew. Really! Who's lame idea was this? Great move ABC. I think you screwed up.

I agree. The most disappointing final show EVER. It's bad enough they cancelled, but why the cliffhangers when the show isn't going on. No guarantee it will online.

So sad, think of all the elderly that have lived with AMC for their entire lives, for many, Erica, Tad, David, Adam and all the other characters of Pine Valley were family to them, now they are gone. ABC made a BUSINESS decision and it proves they have no true loyality to their audience base if after 41 years they can do this. On another note, that finalle was extremely dissapointing!

Money drive everything in a Capitalist society. Why should ABC feel any loyalty to it's views. It's sole purpose along with the sole purpose of any corporation in the country is to generate profit. The individual person that is entertained, or serviced is of little concern to them.

How many cooking shows do people really need to watch  on TV? What happened to read the cook book and  prepare the meal. All my children has entertained audiences for the past 40 years. It was a wonderful show.A little bit of mystery, fun, seriousness  and happy times.  The executives at ABC should have changed the time of the show  to the evening or have it remain  as scheduled. It has been  a long running show far better than any reality show presently on TV. The executives and their advisors missed what the viewing audiences wanted. ie Keeping All My Children of the Air. They had no regard for the Seniors who have watched this show for years.   They should bring this show back. It was wonderful entertainment. The last show left the door open for All My Childrens return. I hope that it will be soon..

This is a sad time of television. How can number crunchers decide what the public wants and has a history with before the number crunchers were too young to use a computer, adding machine, and definately understand viewer's choice. "All My Children" has weathered and made so many issues that helped people understand things that were beyond their field of reality. What is so sad is that it will be replaced with yet another cooking/chat show. Executives should listen to the fans, and not live by numbers that were obviously supported by computers and emotionally void information. The fact that they are going "on line" is little solice to those who have a history with the story line and have little if any knowledge base about the internet. In a world that is turning in so many directions that WE have so little to hold close to, don't the producers think that it is unfair to both long time elderly fans and new continuing base that allows them to have an hour of retreating to an old friend(s) such as those with "All My Children?" Really?   Good Luck with your new show...you have made a huge mistake and already fostered a group of viewers that will NOT support it. Think  about it --- you are so very wrong in this choice, so I hope that your choice will give you some time ubtil you are pushed out because you "numbers" were WRONG.

I have been a faithful viewer for 41 years. This is not the ending I had hoped for. What a cliff hanger. ABC how many of these stupid talk shows do we have to put up with. This is totally rediculous. I for on will not be watching ABC will move on to CBS soaps or NBC.Hope your decision helps your ratings.

I am yet another VERY dissappointed veiwer!!! I have been watching AMC for years also and it has really become part of my daily routine since I homeschool my son.  I set our schedule to make sure I have my time to watch AMC while we're having lunch.  I guess we'll rearrange our schedule now because I am definately not watching "The Chew"!!!  (very big mistake ABC!!!)  I too hope you all come to your senses and bring AMC back to ABC.  Until then, I will stick with CBS!!!

So, instead of "Who Shot J.R."--one of the all time great cliff-hangers, it was "Who did J.R. shoot"??? Come on. I found the finale show very lackluster, like they just wanted to get it over with. Not the greatest reward for viewers that have given 20, 30 or more years to watching. Thanks a lot.

Faithful viewer for 41 years and I am very disappointed how it was ended. Not to know who JR shot, who's the other woman, just a very piss-poor ending.

How could they do this to us?  I have been a viewer for 36 years.  There is enough of talk shows and other stupid shows out there.  Abc will never be the same without All My Children. What were they thinking.  It was a Classic and one of a kind.  I hope they regret there decesion and decide to bring it back.  So many talk and reality shows on air, that they have taken the fun out of watching TV.  I will miss this show since it has been part of my life since the age of 13.  Goodbye to my All my Children family.

Nice going ABC..just saw the Chew..they are trying too hard to be witty and cute..i just cant believe that you have replaced a show that alot of homes watch daily, like clockwork, with a cooking program..oh well..i do wish to thank you cause now I have the motivation to go to the gym..I'll make sure to be back to watch OLTL& GH...once OLTL is replaced then we'll see if i need another outdoor activity..or maybe I'll just switch to CBS and start getting into their soaps...

Very sad to see AMC taken of the air! I have been watching since I was 11 years old. I took the day off work, so I could be home to see the last episode. I see I am not the only one is was really disappointed in the ending of the show! May the cast find peace and happiness with the rest of their lives. Will miss Erica Kane for sure!

I have watched AMC since I was in 6th grade.  I was so sad to see it go off the air.  I think this was a very poor decision and I know of many unhappy and disappointed fans out there.  My friend would call me from out of state to talk about AMC.  I thought the final episode was laughable.  It was like a Gone With the Wind spoof.   "Frankly Erica I don't give a damn."  Really??  Cheesy! At 12:40 today I looked at  the clock and thought only a few more minutes until AMC and then I remembered it is off the air.  So sad!!  Needless to say, I did NOT watch the Chew! 4TetyI will miss you All My Children.

I have also watched AMC since I was young. Now at 52 I am deeply saddened by losing this show. ABC didnt care about its viewers its all money based. I looked up the ratings for the first showing of the Chew and it got real high ratings despite people like us who refused to watch. I certainly hope putting AMC online will do okay. It also kinda looks like if it does go online that some actors wont sign on. Without actors like Susan Lucci it would be a flop.

I too am one of the disappointed that All My Children has gone off the air epically the way it ended.  They could have at least ended the show with everyone in a happy place, but no, they left with all kinds of mystery.  I for one will not be watching the new show "Chew" that is taking the place of my favorite Soap.  There are way too many cooking shows on now and what little of "Chew" I saw today was lame.  Bring back All My Children..Unhappy Viewer,Linda Hale

I couldn't wait for lunch so I could watch All of my Children, we got to know each of the characters and they will be missed. Very dissapointed in the ending also, not what I expected at all. Thought maybe they would thank all of the devoted fans. I don't plan on watching The Chew.

Anyone who actually watches the Chew is only justifying them cancelling what we consider our family.  ABC...you suck!

I traveled 350 miles to watch the final show with my best friend (whom I watched the show together with faihtfully when we lived across the street from each other)...where were all of the Martins...what about the Tylers...what about Mona Kane and Nick, Erica's one true love...family legacies????  We have watched this show since the first episode  This is absolutely the biggest let down of any show's ending I have ever seen in my life.  Agnes Nixon, you should be disappointed in the way you left your longtime loyal fans hanging in the wind.  It sucked!!!!!

2
Stephanie Plumley

Amen Sister!!!!  How could you leave out the founding families of Pine Valley...Phoebe for God sakes...how could you totally forget her?  Just a brief glimpse of Dr. Tyler and Mona?  Did you forget about Tara and Jeff Martin or were we just imaging them or tripping!?!?  The founding families are what created our loyal fanship and then you repaid us with this week's worth of crappy family legacies and who knows what FINALE.  I need gas money to get my friend home...what a waste of gas money!!!

OMG not AMC!!! They could have replaced Judge Judy or something else. I couldn't believe it!!! I tape it everyday and can't wait to lay sown and watch it at night.I'm 60 and remember coming home as and seeing my grandmother crying over someones death and didn't know who she was talking about and she said "on my stories" in her broken English, she was an Italian immigrant. That's what she said to me every day for 1 hour she peeled potatoes, apples or ironed clothes while she watched her stories.Very Sad

I watch the food network and it seems to me there are enough repeats on that they could have put the chew on the channel it belongs on. I watched it today on tape not impressed. I don't know how I didn't realize they were replacing AMC but I didn't and so i just got done seaching everywhere to see where they moved it too. I'm really upset!!!

I was very disappointed with the ending of AMC as when I watched it on ABC east, we did not hear the gun shot as after the scene ended with Erica running out, we got a blank screen for a few seconds and then a commercial - the shot was completely cut out-  I found out later that a shot was heard and had to go on line to hear it.  What a rip off!

Dissappointed!Lame ending and I honestly thought something had happened to my show because it was not on dvr mon,I was thinking where did the last episode go. There is no way the show ended that way fri.Cheesy and stupid who on earth thought it would be good to leave all the story lines out there, all I can say is I hope they at least move it to an online show.:(  Been watching since I was a child .Grew up with the characters soo very sad.
