In remembrance of the passing of comedy legend, George Carlin, this past June, an all-star lineup of comedians is coming together for a special tribute performance to Carlin at the Mark Twain Prize for American Humour on November 10th.

Jon Stewart, Bill Maher and Margaret Cho are among an all-star lineup of entertainers who will honor the late comedian George Carlin at this year's Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

The prize was announced just before Carlin's death in June. It will be awarded during a tribute performance November 10th at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington. The program announced Tuesday will be aired later on PBS stations.

Others who will honor Carlin include Garry Shandling, Lily Tomlin, Denis Leary, Joan Rivers, Lewis Black and Richard Belzer.

The prize is being awarded posthumously for the first time in its 11-year history.

This picture was taken backstage at Margaret Cho's visit to Southern Connecticut State University back in 2003!

One of his last shows in Las Vegas, 10 days before he died. Hi is my all-time favorite comedian and this was the first and last time I got to see him live.

One of the reasons for my trip from Guatemala (my home country) to USA was to catch him live, and I barely did. I guess the last lesson he taught me was to just do it, don't wait for a second chance.

I know Vegas wasn't his favorite place to perform and you could tell, but it was a great show nonetheless.

We'll miss him, one of the great ones no doubt.

Peace.

only got to see him live once, but his TV specials, books, CDs and whatnot kept me entertained for ages.  He is missed.

This is a rather grainy photo of a quite detailed 6 layer stencil. It is avialable to buy (profits go to Amnesty International) or trade if you comtact me.

The picture I took with the 'canceled' sign across it was taken from the Georgia Straight entertainment newspaper here in Vancouver the week after he died.  He was scheduled to come here right about now.  Seeing that canceled sign almost made me cry right there on my lunch hour.  He was a favourite of my dad's and he was a favourite of mine.  Good innings, George, and rest in peace.  You and Mark Twain would have had a great time together.

My photos were taken at The Orleans Casino in Las Vegas on Sunday, February 17, 2008.  We were fortunate to have front row, center seats for this performance.

Seeing Mr. Carlin perform was truly a highlight of my life.  After the show he even signed out ticket stubs.

His genius is missed daily.
