Today, I reached the conclusion that Barack Obama harmed his chances of being elected president when he selected his running mate. In much the same was a certain weight-loss product gained notoriety for its potential side effects after being introduced last year, the “side effects” of his “alli-ance” with Joe Biden could derail Obama’s White House bid.
The weight-loss product in question, alli™, gained FDA approval as an over-the-counter weight-loss product last year, and news about the product’s potentially-horrible “treatment effects” surfaced soon after it’s release. According to the alli™ web site, those effects “may experience oily spotting, loose stools and more frequent, hard-to-control stools.”
Similarly, the U.S. senator from Delaware gained BHO approval as a vice presidential running mate last month and was followed soon after by news about his track record of making inexplicable and/or stupid statements (a.k.a., “side effects”) on the campaign trail.
According to one news report, Biden’s propensity for off-color remarks earned him the title of “gaffe machine” from NBC news anchor Brian Williams. Gaffes like those committed by Biden — see examples here and here — represent the political equivalent of oily spotting, loose stools and more frequent, hard-to-control stools.
In a recent article, one doctor-columnist wrote this about alli™:
Well, that’s certainly one way to go. The other might be to just eat a low-fat diet, exercise and SKIP THE DRUG and its oily “treatment” effects. Put the savings into the bank or join a health club, activities that will have long-term benefits.
Considering all of the evidence, it appears Obama might have avoided a political “weight” problem by selecting someone other than Biden. But that’s okay with me. After all, MY PIT BULL WEARS LIPSTICK!
