For those who might be unaware of this legendary singer/dancer/actress, Eartha Kitt’s career began when she joined the Katherine Dunham Dance Troupe as a teenager in the 1940's. She has since been nominated for a Tony Award three times, a Grammy Award twice, and an Emmy Award. Orson Welles once called her "the most exciting woman in the world." In spite of her many movies, record albums, and Broadway performances over six decades, she is probably best known for being one of three actresses (and the best) to play Catwoman on the 1960’s “Batman” TV show.
She also famously denounced President Lyndon Johnson, to his face, for sending children off to die in Vietnam.
She is now eighty years old and still fabulous, and she gives a great concert.
I took this photo of Miss Kitt at Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley, Seattle, Washington.
