Amber Portwood and Her Boyfriend Gary Shirley Still Want to Get Married After She Was Captured Hitting Him on MTV's Teen Mom Last Week

Amber and Gary have had a rocky relationship, but they have decided to try couples counseling after she hit him on TV and a police investigation was launched. Amber was seen hitting and kicking Gary during an argument; he does not respond, but just asks her if she is done.

There is a video of the incident, but it may not be be suitable for all viewers.

The young couple have a child together, Leah, and the Department of Child Protective Services in Indiana was also looking into the incident.

According to RadarOnline, Amber's father Shawn said that Amber and Gary have been in counseling for months and he still hopes they will get married.

"I think it was their idea as a whole, them together, to be honest with you," he told RadarOnline.com.

He said that he daughter does not normally act the way she was portrayed on TV:

"I think we all go through our troubles and we all have our idiosyncrasies," he told RadarOnline.com. "It's just something that happens. It's not a normal thing... I don't believe it's a normal thing for Amber to do what she did. I haven't seen it hardly at all."

He says he was shocked that MTV even decided to air the fight and he thinks the network should have removed it from the episode.

Shawn insists that baby Leah is in no danger and says the young parents are good parents. Both want the best for their daughter and they are hoping they will be able to work it out, get married and be a family all together.
