American Idol Fans Campaign for Paula Abdul's Return

American Idol fans and former contenstants are mobilizing to briug Paula Abdul back to the show following her announcement that she's leaving the long-running reality program.

After Paula Abdul quit American Idol, the #keepaula hashtag surged on Twitter, though unless those fans are willing to somehow accomodate her salary demands, it's unclear what effect it will have.

Former Idol contestants joined in the #keepaula campaign on Twitter and American Idol Internet forums. Abdul has been a mainstay of the show since 2002.

Also trending are #savepaula and #nopaulanoidol.

But are fans more into her warm, supportive advice or her increasingly erratic onscreen behavior?

Another fan, Jim, said he's going to miss the sometimes wacky things Abdul did and said. "That's terrible," he said. "I only watch [the show] for Paula and her craziness."
