Amy Locane Charged in Vehicular Homicide For Helene Seeman Death
Amy Locane-Bovenizer Has Been Charged In a Fatal Drunk-Driving Crash in Montgomery County
Amy Locane-Bovenizer, who has appeared in films such as Crybaby and the television show Melrose Place, was charged on Monday with vehicular homicide and third degree assault by auto after a drunk-driving crash on Sunday night. Helene Seeman was killed in the crash and her husband Fred Seeman was flown to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and he is currently in critical condition.
The actress admitted to police that she had been drinking while driving. She was also involved in a crash in Princeton, Somerset County before she hit the Seeman car and according to NJ.com, after she rear-ended this first car the other driver tried to call the police. That is when Locane-Bovenizer got back in to her car and drove off. The other car then followed her and said that she was 'swerving and knocking down several mailboxes.'
Later Sunday evening, after the fatal crash, the actress admitted to police that she had consumed several glasses of wine prior to driving, according to court papers. She is charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree assault by auto.
Ms. Locane-Bovenizer appeared in court on Monday afternoon and her bail was set at $50,000. She could face up to 10 years in prison if she is convicted.

What a shame for innocent people to be hurt so badly because Amy Locane got behind the wheel of her car after "having a few glasses of wine." I hope that she gets the punishment she deserves and most importantly, sincere condolences to the victim's family. If you drink - DON'T DRIVE.

The Seeman's are wonderful people. This Princeton skank has caused enormous pain - she should rot in prison

Ease up on Princeton. She lives in Hopewell. Not that there's anything wrong with their residents either. People in every town drive drunk and it's an epidemic in this country more so than any other.

This is a tragedy! Helene was an amazing woman. I did pottery in NYC with her. Her family was her whole life. This C list actress should have the book thrown at her. She is truly trash! I am so shocked and saddened by this news. They should sent this actress to jail for life with no chance of parole! Let her and her family experience pain for her irresponsible act!

I feel sorry for the entire Seeman family, as well as Amy's family. I agree she should be penalized to the max for her actions. As a 39 year old with two kids, she should know better. Her family had nothing to do with this and believe me, they will suffer as well. But they don't deserve to suffer either, just Amy. Innocent 1 year olds and 3 year olds don't deserve to suffer. You don't know the whole story, so keep Amy's family out of your punishment wishing please.

Can anyone tell me if this is Fred Seeman, the 25+ years landlord/tenant litigator who practices in downtown manhattan?

I loved Helene and her family..I've known her for 30 years..She was the smartest, funniest and most accomplished person...It's horrible to think that a minute's difference in their timing could have spared her and Fred,,,,I hope the drunk gets the max, and it were the death penalty that would be fine with me...It's heartbreaking..

Helene Seeman was a great woman...smart, witty, a great mother and wife. She will be sorely missed. I hope the drunk that killed Helene gets life in prison...she deserves the worst!

I had the great pleasure of knowing Helene. What an extraordinary woman. I am heartbroken for her boys. This actress deserves way more than 10 years in prison for taking her life.

I feel terrible for the family, both families, actually. But the fact that this was so avoidable makes it so much more heartbreaking and hard to accept. The laws and public opinion around DUI have changed over the years, but it seems they haven't changed enough. In my view, $50,000 bail and a potential prison sentence of 5-10 seem very insignificant compared to Helene Seeman's life.If this woman had only stopped to exchange information and behave like a responsible person after her initial collision instead of speeding off in an attempt to outrun it, the fatal accident never would have happened. What kind of a person does that?

What kind of person runs away from an accident and kills someone else in a 2nd accident? A person under the influence who gives in to the primal urge to survive at all costs. A person who has developed an innate feeling, "I deserve better." A person who married her enabler (wine store owner, taster) so she could legitimize her use of alcohol, via wine. A person who was playing a movie role with an out-of-body experience with no consequences down the road, which she was driving. A person who knew better, but decided that she was entitled to feel good after some years of no Hollywood seasons. A selfish person who will buy her way out of 10 years, down to 2-3 years, with community service with the homeless (Mogen David anyone?), and a welcome home wine tasting party. A person who will meet Mr. Seeman's legal friends so that she does not get away with her thoughtless actions. I am a person who does not drink and drive.

This is so tragic. A drunken Hollywood celebrity killing an esteemed member of our community. It will be interesting to watch the cadre of lawyers who are trotted out to save Locane's skin from doing jail time. Ten years is far too little time for taking a life while behaving selfishly and recklessly. Imagine who she would have killed around the next corner.

I have known Helene for over 20 years. This is a tragic loss of a vibrant contributor to this world who expanded the world of art, was a passionate and loving mother, great wife and good friend. She had a zest for life that was stolen away from her 2 wonderful sons, her husband and mother. Imagine a mother today buried her daughter. Throw the book at this murderer. Second degree vehicular manslaughter?! I think not. When you get into a car after drinking you have every intention of hurting someone and a reckless disregard for anyone else's life!! Helene Seeman's life contributions were extraordinary as was she. I have witnessed tons of press for this woman whose name I would not dignify mentioning. Not once have I seen a public apology from her. My hope is that she loves her children as much as Helene loved Ford and Curtis. In my eyes, those young innocent children of this murderer don't stand a chance. God help them. And, God bless Helene Seeman and her family.

All funerals are sad but attending Helene Seeman's was one of the hardest to date. I wish the jusdge that will be sentencing this irresponsible drunk actress could have been there to see what devastation this horrific incident really caused. The pain on the faces of the family and hundreds of friends that came to pay tribute to a wonderful woman and supprt an incredible family was almost unbearable. The heart wrenching speach by one of Helen's sons did not leave a dry eye in the chapel. After hearing all of the speaches by close friends and family, it is amazing how much Helene accomplished in her life and how she touched so many people in so many ways. It is more then just the loss of a great person, it is a loss that will have aver lasting effects on the family. For a husband to lose his partner in life and at a time when they were planning on focusing more on each other to travel and do the things that they have been looking forward to for so many years but could not do because of work and other obligations and for the kids at their age to lose such a caring mother whose love and comfort can only come from a mother is something that cannot ever be replaced and does not ease over time. A life sentence is not nearly enough to punish someone for such an irresponsible act and putting this person away forever would probably be doing her own kids a favor beucase next time those kids may be in the car when their mother has had too much to drink.
