Amy Winehouse Found Dead at London Home
She had a lifelong battle with addiction woes, and it's sadly being reported that Amy Winehouse has been found dead at the young age of 27 at her home in London, England.
The "Back To Black" singer was discovered unresponsive at 4PM on Saturday (July 23), with a Metropolitan Police report telling, "Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased."
The official statement added, "On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene."
The source also confirmed the tragic news to US, stating, "The London Ambulance Service found her body at 15:34 (GMT) but were unable to save her life."
"Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained," the police report concluded, with details still emerging at the current time.
After an intricate evaluation of the scene of death had been completed, Amy Winehouse's body was removed from her house in Camden Town, London, UK on Saturday evening.
Wrapped in a maroon bodybag, the late "Rehab" singer was loaded into an ambulance to be transported to a local medical facility in preparation of an autopsy scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 24th.
Among those on the scene aside from medical personnel and law enforcement were Miss Winehouse's most recent beau, Reg Traviss, who was seen departing the scene in the midst of the investigation.
Also on the grounds was Amy's bodyguard, with reports telling that he was taken into custody for questioning - though all current details indicate that foul play has been ruled out as a possible cause of death.
Truly heartbreaking news, the singer's father, Mitch, has flown back to the UK to be with the family during these tragic times. He had been situated in NYC while preparing for a performance at the Blue Note jazz club on Monday (which has since been canceled).
Aside from music, Amy Winehouse was known for her ongoing public battle with drugs and alcohol.
Prior to embarking on her most recent tour, the 27-year-old visited England's Priory Clinic, only to be released five days later in May of 2011.
Following the short stint, an on-stage meltdown in Serbia led her to cancel her remaining European tour dates.
At the time, a statement published on Amy's website read, "Everyone involved wishes to do everything they can to help her return to her best and she will be given as long as it takes for this to happen."
Back in 2007 Winehouse was hospitalized for a reported overdose of heroin, ecstasy, cocaine, ketamine and alcohol.
She is survived by her parents, Mitchell and Janis, and her older brother, Alex.
