Amy Winehouse Performs Back To Black And Wake Up Alone 2007

Another sad bad blow for the young gifted but flawed Amy Winehouse. The news that she might have TB is worrying and highlights the rise in TB infections in the UK and USA mainly amongst the very poor, homeless and dependant drug users.

The rise in the UK is all the more worrying as the vaccination against TB that all children got in secondary school as a matter of course has in many areas of the UK become a thing of the past with individuals having to arrange appointments with their own GP if the choose to to get the vaccination.

Amy Winehouse is said to be coughing up blood, a classic sign that she is suffering from tuberculosis, experts say.

Dr Keith Prowse, chairman of the British Lung Foundation, told the Telegraph: "Coughing up blood is the number one symptom of TB".

On hearing her symptoms, which are said to include a chest infection, dramatic weight loss and a lack of appetite, Dr Prowse said: "Without wanting to comment on a specific case, TB is the diagnosis we would give for these symptoms."
