Anderson Cooper Comes Out: 'The Fact Is, I'm Gay'
CNN's Anderson Cooper: 'I'm Gay, I Always Will Be'
Anderson Cooper has come out of the closet (if one can call it that) in an email to The Daily Beast's Andrew Sullivan. Cooper and Sullivan were discussing the strange juxtaposition between celebrity coming-out stories and continued homophobia in America.
The money quote: "The fact is, I'm gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud."
Anderson Cooper said that his sexuality was never a secret with his family, friends and colleagues. It wasn't really a secret with the viewing public, either, but Cooper is making it official.
And around we go again: the public will compliment Anderson Cooper on his bravery and then say it's no big deal; but we'll still have kids getting bullied for being gay, and we'll still have preachers like Charles Worley calling for gays and lesbians to be put into concentration camps and killed.
