Andrea Fay Friedman: The Actress with Down Syndrome Blasts Sarah Palin in email
Andrea Fay Friedman provided the voice for a character on a recent episode of Family Guy. In the episode her down syndrome character Ellen is on a date with Peter Griffin's son, Chris.
In one segment the character Andrea Fay Friedman voices says the lines "my dad is an accountant and my mum is the Governor of Alasaka - an obvious dig at Sarah Palin.
Well, on her Facebook page Sarah Palin took a exception to the Family Guy and the Down Syndrome character.
People with special needs face challenges that many of us will never confront, and yet they are some of the kindest and most loving people you’ll ever meet. Their lives are difficult enough as it is, so why would anyone want to make their lives more difficult by mocking them? As a culture, shouldn’t we be more compassionate to innocent people – especially those who are less fortunate?
Well, Andrea Fay Friedman who actually has down syndrome shot back an email to the New York Times.
I guess former Governor Palin does not have a sense of humor. I thought the line “I am the daughter of the former governor of Alaska” was very funny. I think the word is “sarcasm.”
In my family we think laughing is good. My parents raised me to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life

In my family we think laughing is good. My parents raised me to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life. My mother did not carry me around under her arm like a loaf of French bread the way former Governor Palin carries her son Trig around looking for sympathy and votes.
Friedman is tough and opinionated and provides an alternative perspective on compared to Sarah Palin. Ms. Palin has always has tried to come across as the champion of people with special needs. Well, Sarah Palin clearly does not speak for Andrea Fay Friedman .

Perhaps Andrea, Family Guy and her Fox family, the cheap one, you know the one you can get over the air, should have attributed her downs syndrome experiences to her own parents and left the Palin's alone. You do know, that when you insult or ridicule a Palin, there are a whole lot of us out here who will turn you off in a heartbeat. Just cause you have American Idol, you think you can do no wrong, well bringing Ellen on board was definitely the wrong way to go. She really has no talent, so how in the world can she be a judge? Keep on attacking Sarah and her family, and the American people will bring your rating down so low, you won't have any sponsors anymore.

The Actor behind family guy is a total whack job. The show is whack and if Andrea was a child of hollywood she would not be on the tv but flushed away in an abortion. I guess her parents were more like Sarah Palin and gave her a shot.

Why is she a whack job? Is it because she defended the show? Or is it because she is a smart, funny woman who, despite having a disability, has a college degree, has been working at a law firm for 20 years, traveled to India and Japan, and speaks Japanese. And is an advocate and motivational speaker for down syndrome. And why is the show a whack job, for being a show about a outrageously satirical disfunctional family, who parodies everyone including themselves showing people the good and bad, the right and wrong about us. Then why did family guy win 3 emmy awards and was nominated 11 times (nominated for outstanding comedy series). I`m glad that her family did not flush her in an abortion, because she has more common decency and intelligence that you will ever have. I guess thats why Sarah Palin lost her vice presidency, resigned her post as governor and why the majority of Americans voted for Obama!

I hate to tell Ms Marcie but family guy makes fun of everyone and everything. Also there are way more people out there that think Sarah Palin is a no talent hack that uses her son's condition as a political tool. Most americans can not stand this woman and she will fade away with time. GO MCFARLANE

Miss Andrea is lucky she had a mom like Sarah Palin to see a down syndrome child to term and birth or we would not be in this discussion. God Bless Sarah and Moms like her that stand up and when will washed up actors in hollywood quit trying for sucess by continuing to bash Sarah. Get a new line or get off the f n stage.

Yes, God bless Sarah Palin who had a child, who had a child when she was still a child. Who rocked the republican party with so much controversy that republicans expressed concern that she was becoming a political liability, and some conservative commentators called for Palin to resign from the Presidential ticket. Who resigned as governor and will never be able to run a country as well as Obama. "Get a new line or get off the f n stage" Well honey, she is already on the f n stage, if you can take the heat, then get out of the kitchen!

Family guy has got to be the most vile, crude show I've ever seen. How it's on the air and allowed by the FCC is beyond me. I would've thought all of the complaints would've led to sponsors pulling out and Fox dropping the show, but that didn't happen. Fox and Newscorp. are known for crudeness, so I guess it fits right in with what they're trying to do.

The Palins are always the victims. Sarah Palin needs t stop her crying and get over it. She deserve it. My daughter isnt going to get knocked up at 17. Im going to raise children who is intellient enough and have enough self respect to keep their legs closed until marriage. The Tanners daugter on Full House or the kids on 7th Heaven never got knocked up at 17. Sarah Palin wants to be a cool mother. Family Guy is hilarious. Im going to watch it tonight.
