The Anne Frank House has launched the official Anne Frank YouTube Channel on Wednesday. With the new channel, people around the world will be able to know more about the life of Anne Frank, the Jewish teenager who died in a World War II Nazi concentration camp.

The channel has existing and new images of Anne Frank, including a video footage of her leaning out of an upstairs window during a wedding of a neighbor. This video, shot in July 1941, is the only known video footage of Anne. In addition, there are excerpts from interview with Anne's father, Otto Frank, and a series of interviews with people who knew Anne personally. There is a video clip of Nelson Mandela talking about how reading Anne Frank's diary during his imprisonment on Robben Island gave him strength.

"With the Anne Frank Channel on YouTube, people around the world will be able to explore the life and significance of Anne Frank through unique images," said a statement. "We hope this YouTube channel will help broaden the reach of the Anne Frank House, its educational power and its message of tolerance."

Also on YouTube, there are previews of the new virtual museum of the Anne Frank House which will soon be opened to the public on April 28, 2010 as part of the 50-year anniversary celebrations of the Anne House museum. Not only can visitors follow the development of the museum, they will also soon be able to watch the "making of" the online secret annex in 3D.
