Apple Blossom Festival - Parade of Fun
Williamson, New York held its annual Apple Blossom Festival parade on Saturday, May 17th. The day started out warm with lots of sun but by mid-afternoon the rains came bringing lower temperatures. The cool air didn't stop the residents of this western New York town, the citizens came out in the rain to watch local high school marching bands, local floats, and the South Philadelphia Mummers String Band came from Philadelphia to march.
Each spring this Wayne County town and surrounding communities come together to celebrate the blossoming apple trees that are so rich in the area. Main Street closed on Friday night for a street dance, a 10K race began on Saturday morning and the parade marched on at 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon. There were many other free activities for families including a carnival, food booths and a kiddie parade.
