Labor day is public holiday in the United States. It is observed on the first Monday every September that celebrates the economic and social contributions of workers. Here is a list of what’s closed and what’s open Monday on Labor Day:

What is Closed on Labor Day?

Most banks
All federal government offices
Post offices: No mail delivery
State Offices.
Schools
Libraries

What is Open on Labor Day?

Retail Stores
Supermarkets
Restaurants
Convenience stores
Bars/Taverns
Gyms/Health Clubs
Package stores

It's probably a good idea to call ahead before heading to any of the above establishments to confirm they are open on Labor Day. Many retail stores or gyms/health clubs may be operating on a Sunday schedule or with limited hours.

Also, Labor Day is the last day of the year to wear white, so if you go anywhere that's open on Labor Day, get your white fashions out of your system before you put them away until Memorial Day.

I believe you should change the places that are closed on Labor Day 2012, especially the line that says Schools. My children are scheduled to attend school in Livingston, TX. So maybe there are schools that are closed this Monday, but ours is not one of them, and there are many others across the country that are opening on this federal holiday.
