In today's Huffington Post,  Arianna Huffington says a hearty,  "Thank You"  to Glenn Beck,  for removing Van Jones from his Green Jobs post,  and releasing him out in the open air,  to do what he does best:  Speak,  inspire,  energize,  and unite unlikely opposites into powerful coalitions:

Thank you, Glenn Beck. By helping force the resignation of Van Jones, you have done a great service to your country. But in the exact opposite way than what you intended.

Your vile and vicious smear campaign has helped reverse one of the worst examples of miscasting since John Wayne took on the role of Genghis Khan in The Conqueror.

Don't get me wrong: Van Jones was the best person for the job he just gave up. But the job was not the best use of Van Jones.

Contrary to the media caricature, the real Van Jones is a thoughtful leader who knows how to use words to move people to action. To stick him behind a desk, working out the details of tax credits for green jobs -- incredibly important though the job is -- was never the best use of his unique and abundant skills.

This is not an attempt to put a positive spin on an ugly episode. I've actually been feeling this way ever since Van told me he was taking this job.

Huffington continues,  telling of Jones' charisma,  his powerful talents as a speaker,  and how she had been rather saddened at the thought of him in a desk job.  Certainly,  anyone who has seen his pictures can see how handsome he is:  And I do not mean handsome in some trivial, entertainment "hunk"  sort of way:  But beautifully countenanced,  regal in his bearing, and harmonious and manly in his features.   A true statesman,  with true charisma in the classical sense,  in the sense of antiquity:  " a countenance  where every god did seem to set his seal,  to give the world assurance of a man."   To give the world assurance of a man:

As an essentialist and a neoPlatonist ( of sorts)  , to me,  these aspects are not arbitrary in the least.

Huffington continues:

Now, thanks to Glenn Beck, we've got that voice back. No longer tied to his desk with a sock in his mouth, Van is now freed to do what he does best: inspire and energize groups around the country. Student groups and labor groups and small business groups and middle class Americans everywhere who are losing jobs and losing homes and losing hope. He's free to push with all his might and insight for the vision tens of millions of Americans tirelessly worked for during the presidential campaign -- the vision they voted for in November -- but which is now in danger of being drowned in the fetid political swamps of Washington.

If Glenn Beck had any sense at all, he would have done everything in his power to keep Van Jones right where he was.

But he didn't. And for this we should all be grateful.

MINCHIA!  Arianna sure has a thing for Van Jones! Look out Van! BTW: Is anything that Glenn Beck said about Van Jones true? And those audio tapes, containing Van Jones' statements--the ones that Glenn Beck has been playing recently  . . . are they real? I don't know much at all about Van Jones and I haven't been paying much attention to the hoopla.  But if it's true and the tapes are real, then there's no doubt that the presence of Van Jones, in the Obama administration, would be a major hindrance to President Obama's re-election prospects in 2012.

In my opinion, Van Jones' resignation (whether it was at President Obama's behest or of Van's own choosing) is the only rational political move that the Obama administration could have been made if it wants to maintain a Democrat majority in the House and Senate and if President Obama wants to get re-elected. I say this because the American voter base (and this includes Democrats more and more every day) are not quite ready to put their faith and confidence in ideologues such as Van Jones that ( if Beck's statements are true and the tapes are real), apparently have a problem with white people messing up the environment.

If Van Jones and members of the Obama administration say  stuff like that (about white people messing up the environment) on the record,  out in public, and with no reservation, then voters have cause for concern, because, in the back of their voter minds, they can't help but wonder what's being said behind the closed doors of  the Obama administration. And along those lines, voters can't help but wonder if President Obama is in full agreement with guys like Van Jones. I like President Obama, but I'm sorry to say that, thus far, he's making Jimmy Carter look like a political genius. And we all know the trouncing that good ole Jimmy took . . . .

Personally I don't think - in fact I do think and I just know that Beck is just a showman, and a bad one at that - but he is, by his actions, opening up a political base that he has no idea about.

To Beck this is all a joke, as rancid as that joke is. The UK has 2 prominent bloggers who do very similar things. It is interesting in watching them flame and - on most occasions - make complete arses of themselves. When they are pulled up on their actions the only excuse they come up with is that 'It was just a joke and I hate politicians'. Yet - and as they are read by those who are politically minded, they are a part of politics themselves - yet don't have the balls to run for office themselves.

In answer to those thinking it - I would have to become a Canadian citizen, which I don't want to do - and we have a complicated situation so as of this time I can't run for office in the UK - but yes I would run for elected office.

The Huff is far larger than Beck - I just hope that the whole Murdoch empire crashes and burns - then people can get back to reading thinks for themselves and seeing the news for what it is - until then, Murdoch will suck people in who are, shall we say, of lesser intellect and of serious mindfu*kery while locked on watching Fox News.

Keep it up Glenn - the more and better fodder you offer, the easier it is to fight the fight.
